Last Updated: January 28, 2026
These MuscleWiki API – Terms of Use ("MuscleWiki Terms") apply to all access to and use of the MuscleWiki API ("API") and its content.
Important: In case of conflict between these MuscleWiki Terms and any other API-specific description, these MuscleWiki Terms control.
By subscribing to or using the MuscleWiki API, you agree to all terms outlined below.
Subject to your compliance with these MuscleWiki Terms, MuscleWiki grants you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, non-sublicensable, revocable license to:
This license is granted solely for fitness, health, and workout-related applications. No rights not expressly granted are included.
Video files and bodymap images are the most sensitive part of the API. The following rules apply without exception.
You may NOT download, export, copy, store, or otherwise retrieve MuscleWiki videos, thumbnails, or bodymap images for offline storage, CDN storage, cloud storage, or any use outside transient caching automatically performed by your application or browser.
You may NOT:
All video playback must occur directly within your own application using the API-streamed URLs.
Permitted: server-side proxying. Routing media through your own backend so that your API key is not shipped in a mobile binary is not"re-hosting" under this section, provided the proxy is transparent: video is never written to disk, object storage, or any shared/CDN cache on your side, and our response headers are passed through unchanged. Your edge or CDN may cache everything except the video bytes, within the limits in Section 3. Media tokens (POST /media/token) are the supported alternative for native mobile clients. Injecting your API key at CDN edge nodes, or any configuration in which an intermediary retains video, is not permitted.
You may NOT scrape, crawl, harvest, or mass-download videos, images, or video URLs, whether through automated means or manual methods.
To ensure service integrity, caching is allowed only as follows:
May be cached for up to 30 days.
May be cached for up to 24 hours.
Transient caching only (e.g., browser or in-memory playback buffers).
Important: Permanent storage or long-term caching of any media is prohibited.
You may NOT:
Plans, billing, and usage quotas are managed directly via the MuscleWiki Developer Dashboard.
MuscleWiki reserves the right to modify pricing with at least seven (7) days' notice. Continued use after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.
MuscleWiki may remove any video, image, exercise, endpoint, or dataset at any time for IP protection, compliance, or security reasons. MuscleWiki bears no liability for such changes.
MuscleWiki may throttle, suspend, or terminate your access immediately for violations of these Terms, including but not limited to downloading media, scraping, redistributing content, or abusive traffic.
Any application displaying MuscleWiki exercise data and/or videos must satisfy both of the following requirements:
1. In-app credit — visible to end users
"Exercise data and videos provided by MuscleWiki.com"
Place this in your app's footer, about screen, or credits page — wherever end users can reasonably find it.
2. Legal disclosure — in your Terms of Service or Privacy Policy
"Exercise data and videos provided by MuscleWiki.com"
Include this verbatim in the relevant section of your Terms of Service, Privacy Policy, or equivalent legal document.
Non-compliance: Failure to display required attribution is a material breach of these Terms and may result in immediate suspension or termination of API access under Section 7.
The API and all Content are provided "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE" without any warranties, including but not limited to accuracy, non-infringement, or fitness for a particular purpose. Use at your own risk.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, MuscleWiki shall not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, punitive, or consequential damages. Total liability is limited to the API fees paid by you in the previous three (3) months.
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless MuscleWiki from any claims, damages, or liabilities arising from your misuse of the API, breach of these Terms, redistribution of content, or any unlawful use.
These Terms are governed exclusively by the laws of the Cayman Islands. Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts of the Cayman Islands.
These Terms constitute the full and complete agreement regarding your use of the MuscleWiki API.
If you have questions about content licensing, commercial usage, or partnership opportunities, we're here to help.
